Chief Anthony Ferriola
Anthony (AJ) currently serves as Chief of the Verga Volunteer Fire Company. Born on March 10, 1976, in Philadelphia PA, and a native of South Philadelphia, he joined the Verga Volunteer Fire Company on March 13, 1992, at the age of 16 based on the recommendation of his good friend and fellow firefighter—Captain Brian Robison.
AJ quickly adapted to the role of junior firefighter and at the age of 18. By the fall of 1994, he was enrolled in the Gloucester County Fire Academy’s Firefighter I program and later received his Firefighter II designation in 2012.
Valued member of the Fire Fighting, Law Enforcement, and EMT community.
Chief Ferriola has received specialized rescue training for mutable types of rescues at the Camden County Fire Academy; including, vehicle Extrication I, II and III. In an effort to augment his skill sets, throughout the years AJ also attended a wide variety of fire training seminars, leadership conferences, and incident command training courses. This included Industrial Firefighting and Advanced Foam Training at Texas A&M Fire Academy.
